Visiting a foodbank

Our foodbank volunteers will offer a warm welcome, listen to your needs and prepare an emergency food parcel for your household.

“The volunteers at the foodbank were so lovely, they listened to me and made me feel human again. It was the first place I didn’t feel judged.”

We understand that anyone can face a crisis, and visiting a foodbank for the first time can feel daunting. At Wythenshawe Foodbank, our volunteers welcome everyone with kindness, compassion and a listening ear.

Food to meet your needs

Your foodbank voucher allows you to collect three days of emergency food for your household.

Please tell our volunteers about any food allergies or dietary requirements, including gluten-free, halal or vegetarian needs. We’ll discuss what’s available and do our best to provide suitable food.

Preparing your food parcel

While we prepare your food parcel, we’ll offer you a warm drink and a biscuit. A volunteer will also be available if you’d like to chat.

We usually pack food parcels into carrier bags. If you prefer, you’re welcome to bring your own bags.

Practical guidance and support

Our trained volunteers will take time to listen and help you find local services that may be able to support you. Alongside emergency food, we can offer information about practical advice and ongoing help with the difficulties you’re facing.
