FAQs

Find answers to common questions about Wythenshawe Foodbank, including how to get help, make donations and support our work.

How can my organisation refer someone to Wythenshawe Foodbank?

We work with local agencies, including Citizens Advice, children’s centres and health visitors, who support people facing hardship. Registered referral agencies can issue foodbank vouchers to people who need emergency food.

If your organisation would like to become a registered voucher holder, please contact us to discuss how we can work together.

Where is my nearest foodbank centre?

Visit our foodbank locations page to find addresses and opening times.

You’ll need a foodbank voucher to collect emergency food. Find out how to get a voucher, or contact us if you’re unsure where to start.

What’s in a typical food parcel?

Our food parcels contain three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food, made possible by donations from our local community.

A typical parcel may include cereal, soup, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, tinned beans, meat, vegetables and fruit, UHT milk, tea or coffee, biscuits and snacks. Contents vary depending on donations and available stock.

Can you accommodate dietary requirements and allergies?

Please tell our volunteers about any food allergies, dietary requirements or needs related to a health condition.

We’ll discuss what’s available and do our best to adapt your parcel, including for gluten-free, kosher, halal or vegetarian diets. Suitable items depend on the stock available, so please contact us beforehand if you have specific concerns.

Will the food parcel provide enough for my whole household?

We prepare your parcel for the number of adults and children recorded on your voucher. Please make sure your referral agency has the correct household details.

We also aim to include food that is suitable for your children’s ages.

Can you help with nappies and baby food?

We sometimes have nappies, baby wipes and baby food available. Please ask our volunteers when you arrive, as supplies are limited and depend on donations.

We do not provide SMA milk. If you need something we cannot offer, we’ll do our best to help you find other local support.

What if I cannot get to a foodbank centre?

If you’re unwell or have mobility difficulties, the referral agency can collect it for you.

Please speak to your referral agency and contact Wythenshawe Foodbank to discuss your circumstances.
