How to Get Help from Wythenshawe Foodbank

1st May 2025

At Wythenshawe Foodbank, we’re here to support people facing crisis situations. To ensure you receive the right support, we operate through a referral system.

How the Referral System Works

To access emergency food from our foodbank, you will need a food voucher, which must be obtained through a referral from one of our local partner agencies.

We partner with a wide range of trusted organisations in the community, including:

  • GPs and health professionals

  • Health visitors and midwives

  • Social workers

  • Citizens Advice

  • Schools and family support workers

  • Housing associations

  • And many others

These professionals are experienced in supporting people through difficult times. After assessing your situation, they can issue a foodbank voucher and guide you to one of our distribution centres.

More Than Just Food

Our referral partners don’t just help you access food in an emergency — they can also provide support with any wider challenges you may be facing. Whether it’s help with:

  • Debt and financial hardship

  • Housing or homelessness

  • Mental health and well-being

  • Family and parenting support

  • Job loss or benefit delays

They can work with you to find longer-term solutions and help prevent you from reaching crisis point again in the future.
